REFINISHING FIBERGLASS ARMOR
Once the armor has been pulled from the molds you may find some small bubble holes in the surface of the fiberglass. These can easily be patched and smoothed out.
Here is what I will be using to fill the holes. For the smaller areas that need to be patched I will be using the Bondo spot putty. (tube shown on right) If there are any large areas that need to be filled you may need to use the Body Filler. (shown on left)
Here you can see me applying the spot putty to the depressions with a small paint brush. Be sure to over-fill the holes with putty, the excess will be removed in the sanding process. Once all the holes have been filled it's time to sand/smooth the surface of the armor. I use 3 different grits of sandpaper to smooth my armor,.. A heavy or coarse grit first, then a medium grit, and finally a fine grit sandpaper to smooth it off. (this is another area where I recommend you invest in a rotary or palm sander to speed things up and save you a lot of work)HOME | ARMOR | GALLERY | HOW TO | ORDER | CONTACT | LINKS | CONVENTIONS
