TRIMMING THE
FIBERGLASS ARMOR

Here the fiberglass piece has completely cured and has been removed from the mold. The trimming of the armor pieces will also be done in the same manner as the Body Cast. First with a marker I mark off a guide line where I will be cutting.

Now using a Dremil tool with a cutting blade I will trim off the excess.

Be sure not to over cut and trim away too much, be generous around the ends. (you can always sand away the excess later)

Once most of the ruff excess has been removed you can begin to slowly sand away the edges until you have a nice smooth edge. I strongly recommend you invest in a hand held electric sander like the one I'm using in the photo,.. it will save you a LOT of time.

Here I am in the process of lining up the halves so that they will fit together flush. (I draw marks down the seams so I can line them up the same every time as I am sanding them to fit one another)

Here are photos showing the first (rough) fiberglass Armor Pieces.
