Constructing A Stand
For The Body Cast

Due to the fact that not everyone will have the same body cast dimensions you will have to buy your materials to match your needs. Take measurements of your cast before you go to the hardware or plumbing store

First off you will need a good thick sturdy base. I am going to use 2 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood. I will combine the 2 sheets to make one 1 1/2 inch thick platform.

Next I fasten a 3inch Flange fitting to the base using 1-1/4 inch Wood screws.

Here I have added a 6 inch long Threaded pipe into the Flange, and Topped it off with a 3 inch Cap. (also shown is a PVC plastic 3-1/2 to 2 inch Down-sizer)

The PVC piece is placed on top of the cap. It will fit up inside the bottom of the leg, and act as a sort of bushing, or cushion to help support the weight of the cast.

Now that one side is completed, assemble the other Flange, pipe, cap and PVC piece without attaching it to the wood platform. Place the Cast on top of the already attached pipe and mark the location where the other support should go.

Once They are both in place you can add a good thick layer of duct tape around the top. This will help to cushion the weight, as well as allow you to compensate for a possible difference in height and width on the body casts legs.

Next I create a "L" shape using 2 lengths of 1 inch pipe joined together at the middle with a 90 degree elbow. (the lengths will vary depending upon the height of your cast) Next I attach 1 inch threaded flanges to each end of the "L". Have someone hold the cast in place while you mark where the screw holes will go. (shown above)

Here I am carefully drilling out the screw holes with a Dremel tool.

Here I have removed the flange from the end of the "L" and attached it using Bolts and Wing nuts. (you have to reach down inside through the neck to tighten down the Wing nuts, so watch out for those sharp fiberglass extrusions that may still be inside)

Now the "L" is reattached to the flange on the back. Next screw the final flange down onto the base. Make sure that the Body cast is still standing upright and not leaning forward or backward.
