WITH CLAY STRIPS

Ok, now its time to prep the Sculpture for casting. I will be casting the Sculpture in many small sections and have found that it is best to start from the bottom and work your way up the sculpture. (this way you reduce the risk of dripping excess plaster down upon non-cast areas) I will try to show several different ways to cast the various areas of the armor.

For the lower legs I have made a divider groove bisecting the left and right sides of each of the calves.

Here I have made a 2 inch tall strip which I will place into the divider groove.

In the photos above you can see how I have attached the strip into the grooves as well as around the top and bottom.
The goal is to basically box in the area that is to be cast with a barrier wall of clay.
